Ok, so I haven’t posted in over a month. I’ve got to be honest — I’m struggling a bit with what I want this space to be, what to write about and share, and I’ve also been feeling a lack of creativity and motivation. I’m in the process of rebooting everything about my photography.
I lost all my photography work when the pandemic hit, and much of it never came back. If I’m being real (mostly with myself), it’s been a struggle ever since. But enough about that, for now.
Right now, I’m working on selecting images for my 2026 Michigan Landscape Photography calendar. I usually focus on images from the Upper Peninsula, but after last year’s photo-a-day project, I have a lot of images I love from my local hangout, Maybury State Park. I know the audience for those photos is smaller, but they mean something to me.
I’ve also considered choosing my favorite 12 images from the photo-a-day project — but narrowing 366 down to 12 is kind of daunting.
So maybe you can help me out a little. Head over to my print store and look through the images. If you find one you’d like to see in the calendar, let me know which one and why. I’m not looking for final picks yet — your favorite might have already appeared in a past calendar. Also, I’m pretty sure I’ll stick to a horizontal format, so vertical shots are out.

While you’re there, maybe you’ll be inspired to order a print for a space that could use a reminder of the beauty of our Great Lakes State. Or pass the link along to someone who loves nature, Michigan, and printed photography.
And did you know that just looking at images of nature can reduce stress? Bonus for me is every print sale helps keep me going, even after 36+ years as a photographer.
So yeah, let me know in the comments, shoot me an email, or say hi in person if you see me out and about. I’m planning to write a few short posts about the process of putting this year’s calendar together. Preorders will open soon, and calendars will ship in October or November.
Oh, and if you want to browse all 366 images from my photo-a-day project, you can check out:
Enjoy these hot summer days.
